The Secret

The Secret

A Poem by Siobhán Kiernan

A secret untold means it never happened.
Keep telling yourself that.
Bury it deep inside the depths of your mind,
So as to try & make yourself believe it.
Tell yourself it will go away,
That time will heal you.
Tell yourself that you can hide it forever,
That nobody can ever know.
A secret untold means you will destroy everything.
Keep telling yourself that.
Release it & pour it out until it has gone,
Then you will believe it.
Then you can tell yourself that it will go away,
That time will heal you.
Then you can tell yourself that you can no longer hide it.
That whoever needs to know will know.

This is a really power piece of poetry. I love it! There is only so long that a secret can be kept to yourself. I like how you have some repeat in here.
