At my funeral

At my funeral

A Poem by Sunny Skye

At my funeral

I want people to party

To laugh and not cry

I want them to remember good memories

And dress in bright colors not black

I want them to be happy

That they once knew me and loved me

Like I once knew them and loved them

I want them to be happy I’m gone

Because now I’m in a better place

I want them not to miss me but to move on.

Nice. I really appreciate this poem. I am the same way. I have already told my mom and sister that when I pass I want people to party and to get together instead of crying and getting the chance to get every one together that I ever loved

Yep. Thank you
Nice display of emotions. I've heard others express this type of funeral design too. I prefer the dark stereotypical ritual, but I'd want mine on the water's edge in the rain with everyone carrying umbrellas and sniffling

Yeah, that's an awesome beseech but it'll be kind of hard to laugh when all you want to do is cry, still though lovely. I loved this. ^-^ WOOT WOOT!

Lol so I've heard. :P and welcome! ^-^
A very good wish. Some culture do celebrate death. Just one more journey into a better place. We hope. I like the desires in the poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Nice poem.
Also, a good thing to put into writing.
My mom requests wailing when she dies and my grandma wants us to talk about how beautiful she once was, everybody has different thoughts on this. All I know is that a funeral is not for the one that has died, but for the ones left behind so that they can cope and say good bye, so they can deal with the death. The dead one is already gone, the funeral should only matter to them in what they hope for their loved ones to get out of it if they can see it. I think that you accomplished that feeling in this. It is about your family and friends and how they deal with you.

I'm Irish so I know there is no choice but a party to come. That's how my family deals with all things.

"I want them to remember good memories" -I wouldn't use both "remember" and "memories" in the same line, mix up the language a bit, keeps the reader going.

great poem!
