Meant to Be

Meant to Be

A Poem by Skylah Ginette

The sky blushed
Blazing red,
As it kissed the night
Good-morning.

The moon’s lips parted,
Clandestine,
As if to say,
I love you.

The sun smiled,
Poignant.
The moon paled, faded
To a lonely day.

They survived on a glimpse,
On a glance.
They revelled in Twilight
In dawn.

They lived for a love
That was never meant to be.

I like the title - it pokes fun at the idiom but reading the poem it is not cynical - more regretful in tone.
The imagery is outstanding - I particularly liked the blushing sky.
