![]() Remember me alwaysA Story by SleepingAtLast![]() This is going to be about me and my 'best friend' as I call her. Not like she is.. but whatever. We're fourteen.![]() I mumbled, I knew this would happen. I knew it. Clenching my fists, I glanced over at my best friend, Sheila. She was holding th joint in between her fingers; her bright orange lighter gleaming in the sunlight. "Not here, Sheila. You're gonna get caught." I said, trying to remain calm. "No, I won't." A smirk slid over her face as she replied. We stood in the middle of the field, it felt like the world was watching us, when, in reality. There were only two people in the far left of the field playing baseball, they were paying no attention to us. Anger rushed through me, I turned away, beginning to walk towards the road. "Where are you going?" Sheila asked. "Away from you, so when you get caught I don't have to watch." I replied, refusing to look back. I picked up my pace, getting closer and closer to the road. "I'll follow you." Sheila said. "SHEILA, GO AWAY." I raised my voice, spinning around to look at her. She was still smiling, of course. She thinks everything is a joke. I kept a straight face, we held our eye contact before her smile dissapeared. She turned around, walking the other direction... I continued to go my direction, suddenly it came to me that I was freezing. I began debating going home or not. If I went home I could get a sweater, which would be in my room. I didn't want to go anywhere near Sheila. We have always been best friends; in grade three all the way until now. Grade 9. I remember once, we were home alone, this wasin grade 7. We made an oath to each other that we wouldn't smoke, we promised. Sheila broke that promise. I grumbled, still cold. I pulled out my phone, reading text messages of course. Amber, my real best friend texted me. "Sheila isn't even being a good friend, she's different. Pull yourself away from her." I didn't want to hear that at the time, so I just ignored it. By that time I decided walking home was a good idea, I could eat dinner then go for another walk. So I began towards my house, two couples walked passed me. They had 4 dogs, I stared for a bit, I've always wanted a dog. Then I quickly threw my attention back at Sheila, her black sweater popping out since it was the only dark thing in the area. She was walking across the field which was not far from my house, I was way behind her, walking at my own pace © 2012 SleepingAtLast |
