She forgot to come back?

She forgot to come back?

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano

I play with a little heap of
Muscovado sugar
On the coffee shop table
While I stare at her soft, empty seat
Clumpy grains of sugary sand
Glistening like her hazel-nut eyes
Sounding as sweet
As a hummingbird's kiss

Maybe she forgot to come back
Because I forgot to love her
Maybe she forgot to seek me
While I was still sitting still
Maybe my mind was drawn to other planets
While she was content with earth
So many what-ifs
So few answers
At least the spoonful
Of sad brown sugar
Still tastes sweet.

and he is left with the sugar as his only sweet thing left.
