Withern Heights

Withern Heights

A Poem by Andromeda
"

inspired by America's "Ventura Highway"

"

They spoke of a place

Called

Withern Heights,

Where all the world

Can see the lights

Of midnight

Ghost-breath

Delights,

And they spoke of a place

Dubbed

Withern Heights,

Where all the frights

Spend all their nights

In the lights

Of midnight-whispered

Dreams

Of kings—

Haunted kings’ delights.

Whisper and make it right?

Whisper and make it right?

Turn on the light!

Stop by and see the sight!

They spoke of a place

Blessed/cursed

Withern Heights,

Where all the might

Of a midnight firelight

Brigade

Could not stop the

Charade

The Campaign

Of midnight

Ghost-breath

Delight.

Come on, you know you want to

Stop by and see the sight—

Whisper and Always/never

Make it right.
