Leaf Lust

Leaf Lust

A Poem by -Scribe in Style-

Know your roots,

and where you come from.

They are stronger as they stay together,

away from them and you'll be alone,

indeed, there is no bliss is turning from a garden into stone.

No matter the autumnal shades

of amber and crimson alike,

no matter to your silver lining nor golden shine,

eventually you'll turn brown

in your flight from the tree to the ground.

A bit like the birds nesting in your branches,

you wanted to see the world from the view above,

but finally, when you thought to fly like them,

your existence betrayed you and to the ground you fell...

You're beauty remained while you were joined with the tree,

alone you're nothing more than a reminder for the world to see...

Upon you the feet of passersby tread,

sounds of crushing come from beneath their soles until you've bled,
crumbled into pieces never too be whole,

you'll be forgotten

as new leaves begin to grow.

I really liked it but I think "fell..." and "see..." Would've had more power to it if it had ended with a period. Otherwise it was very enjoyable.

You are right my friend.
"Know your roots,
and where you come from.
They are stronger as they stay together,
away from them and you'll be alone,"
If we forget who we are and our heritage. We become just another lonely leaf without proper place to land. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
