Adam's shoes

Adam's shoes

A Poem by Tyler Pryor
"

I had been reading more modern poetry, specificly from "Poetry 180". I wanted to write a plain speaking poem that just pointed out something ordinarily extrodinary. Thanks Adam for being my pal.

Adam's Shoes

By Tyler pryor

Adam's got a good pair of shoes.

Look at his feet, and you'll see the

Mud, the piss, the puke and the grass

They have trudged through. On the tips and

Sides are little inkling drawings.

Each one tells a story, their own

Yarn about a time or a place.

look at him later, and you'll see him

Bent over and scribbling on his

Shoes. Ask, "Wat ya doin' Adam?"

"Just writtin' a story." he'll say.

Adam's got a good pair of shoes.

Is it too simple? What do you get out of it? does it speak to you?

Lol. I didn't realize until after reading the description (which I read after the poem itself) that you were talking about your buddy's shoes. That's cute. Aside from that, I think you met your goal. I do the whole ordinary into exraordinary thing a lot and could appreciate the details.

Hey this is cool Tyler. Really only if shoes could talk, they would have tons of stories to tell. A neat perspective, and not to short at all.

Don't think its too short sweet, a poem is as long as it needs to be! lol

This is a concise, clever piece of work Tyler:) Giving a character to the shoes and their travels is actually a really good piece of work! Has a ring of nostalgia and yet melancholy to itxx

I don't think a poem can be "too simple." It all depends on the character and voice you are trying to capture in the poem. In this piece, it works well. The last refrain of "Adam's got a good pair of shoes" confused me a little. At first it seemed superfluous, but after a second read, I realized it tied together with him writing a story.
It speaks to me, in that he seems to be using his shoes a way to remember. I can only imagine why he does that, or needs to do it, but, all-in-all, powerful. You've done a good job on this.

A curious piece leaving plenty of space for the reader to add their own story. I particularly like the inkling.
