Distantly the Sun Sets with You

Distantly the Sun Sets with You

A Poem by Zachary Jude

This feeling is getting old, but not yet cold

Am I warming to it or is it warming to me?

I wanted it gone for so long

But what am I left with when you leave?

There’s nothing, nothing here for me

I wait for the page to turn, but the book is only blank

Distantly the sun sets with you

I turn to the west and wish I could fly

Blood orange, I look out at the sky

We’ll meet at the cell phone towers

Nestled in the hills of my heart, what will I say?

I wish I could speak in memories.
