Too damn short

Too damn short

A Poem by Nurhanne Hassan

Life is too short

For making excuses not to see your loved ones

For not giving yourself a break when things get too tough

For feeling sad because you didn't get into a specific faculty

For leaving your mother to go shopping alone because you're too lazy to go with her

For not eating that pizza slice because you want to fit into that bikini

For not wearing a red lipstick because your skin tone is dark

For skipping that holiday because you had work

For not doing what makes you happy because it's not prestigious enough

For wasting time

Instead of talking to someone you love

You push them away

Because what you have is never enough

But even if you're not together

At least you can still hear their voice

Breathe their air

See their smile

Because before you even knowYour life might feel too long

Because they were taken away

Before you can have enough

Their life was too short

RIP.

To me

To you

To your dead friend

To your dead parent

Pay them tribute by not repeating the same mistake

The mistake of not knowing that life is

Too damn short.
