Don't Make Me Love You

Don't Make Me Love You

A Story by Saskia Liddick
"

A sonnet I wrote based on the song "Please Don't Make Me Love You" written for Dracula the Musical. Also a mix of my own affections, something more uplifting along the way, I promise. :)

Don’t Make Me Love You

By Saskia Liddic

I don’t want to think of you in moonlight,

Please don’t make me want you in my arms.

I don’t want you to be my bright starlight,

Please don’t make me fall for all your charms.

Please don’t make me your captured butterfly,

I can’t bear to look so deep in your eyes.

Please don’t make your love lift me up so high,

I couldn’t bear to ever say goodbye.

If I loved you all my dreams could be free,

but there’s only so much my heart can take.

But then all of you would belong to me,

but if you left my heart would start to break.

All I ask is please don’t make me love you,

Unless you really truly love me too.
