I cried for you

For days on end

Until my eyes couldn’t remember

not drowning

And they sent out a dove

To find land

And then I cried

For you and me

Until my tears dried up

And my eyes were pale

Like the salt plains

Of Uyuni

I cried because

I needed to

Put out the fire

And now there is nothing

But wet ashes

With which I will draw a cross

on your forehead to bless you.
