Dialectics of Awakenings

Dialectics of Awakenings

A Poem by Ellener Peavyhouse

Dialectics of Awakenings

Raw sinews of fingers draw deep,

Loam, quartz, madre flesh parting,

Moving, enveloping slender fingers,

Soul whispers of personal truth.

Light beckons deep within the darkness,

Even as petals spread, blossom,

Arms wide for the loving making of the winged.

Butterfly duff whispers over the creatures,

Creatures slipping in and amongst,

Amongst the willowy arms of the Upper Worlds.

There is no one,

And yet there is everyone,

Voices tracing across the sounds of brooks running,

Babbling, trickling and whispering.

Soft simple tones of 'one,'

Love making to the ears of the willing.

Love this. I like the way you spin the paradoxical truths into this subtle, literary art. Actually, this is a very artful piece. I like it because it lends itself to great philosophical wisdom, and yet it does so without cogitating; it does so by lending one an ineffable connection to the mysterious yet pervasive experience of oneness in nature. And this is the important bit for me right now; the poem embodies its value as it brings to life an experiential knowledge rather than intellectual knowledge (which is what I expected from the title, not that I'm saying the title is inappropriate, I think it works well). This is a knowledge rooted in intuition and feeling, rooted in honesty and courage, rooted in simplicity and perfection. I don't usually do this, but I wrote something I think you might like: http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Kamilion_G/818741/

Still mulling over Butterfly duff. Seriously, it - the whole I mean, not just the pudding - has had me reading and thinking for more than the usual 5 minutes. Thank you for letting me read it.
