Hello Father

Hello Father

A Poem by Marlena

Hello Father,

It’s been a good day today

Went to class, saw my friends

I’ve got so much to say.

Hello Father,

It was an all right afternoon

Mom made me clean and dust around

Gosh, I hope to see you soon.

Hello Father,

Momma said you’re getting home late

I just wanted to say I miss you and-

Yeah, okay. I’ll wait.

Hello Father,

I didn’t see you last night again

I heard you stumbled in at midnight

But I was in bed by then.

Hello Father,

I just wanted to say goodnight

I hope work isn’t too stressful today.

I hope you don’t start a fight…

Hello Father,

Stop screaming at me, please

I missed you all day, I’m sorry!

Wait, Daddy, don’t grab your keys...

Hello Father,

I’m glad to see you too,

What a nice way to be greeted

Stop yelling, God, tell me what did I do?

Hello Father,

I’m stepping out the door

Don’t worry, I promise

I won’t bother you anymore.

Hello Father,

No, I didn’t leave

All right, cut it out now.

You’ve got nothing to grieve.

Hello Father,

You started working late again

I miss you, I really do

To see you, just tell me when.

Hello Father,

You’re yelling at me, why?

I didn’t do a thing,

Just…stop making me cry.

Hello Father,

I guess you don’t want to return

You yelled at me again

And said your love, I have to earn.

Hello Father,

You came to get your things?

I thought you took it all

I’ve got nothing but dust and strings.

Hello Father,

I’ve always loved you, Dad.

Doesn’t matter that you left us

You’re the best Father I could’ve had.

Just something little...I guess...

Written for my dad, not that I'll ever give it to him or anything. Part of it is just conveying how much I love him (even if he can be a butt sometimes) and part of it is just venting old feelings. Enjoy...I guess..

This is so beautiful and sad. It has so much true emotion it. I hope you know that I love you so much and am always here for you no matter what.

It's always difficult to write of our parents, I believe... because of the effect they have on us and our future. Father failures are no stranger to me, so I can relate... and hope things improve in the future for you, for it is too late for me....

Raw emotions put together beautifully. The format and flow and everything all just fit and at the same time all that stuff doesn't really matter just because this poem means so much to you.
