The Act

The Act

A Poem by Doug

The kiln of life tempers the soul

The kind man knows his whole

O sweet innocence, sweet regret

Some things we must forget

Passion often burns all reason

Evil thoughts, desires of the season

O sweet innocence, sweet regret

Divine must save once mind is set

God still stands almighty tall

But even angels sometimes fall

O sweet innocence, sweet regret

All will know eternity’s dark silhouette

All souls anger, all souls sin

Morals unheard over life’s din

O sweet innocence, sweet regret

Kindness, silence, forgiveness met
