Help meA Poem by SpaceHeaterStruggling with faith for the first time in fifteen years.
"Everyone is worth something,
"Your life means something, "There is a difference between right and wrong. "You can never be enough, "But this doesn't make you worth any less." With a history of "Life is meaningless," With a worth based on achievements, With no rules about what's right and what's wrong, This all seems so appealing. "Love your wife, and honor your husband. "Respect your parents, "Teach your children right from wrong, "Show them all your love." With a history of "No, screw you," With a love coming from passion, but not from the will, With a sense of wondering About how to raise a child, This all seems so sensible. "Give of yourself, "Cleanse your heart of lust, "Flee from adultery, fornication, and greed. "Give your life to the Lord so He may save you." That's where the problems start. We want the rewards Without the work, And we want the name without the pain. I want to love You. I want to be a part of something Bigger than myself, To look up and feel safe Even in the dark, The cold. Even when danger is all around. But if I can never be enough, How can I be a part of something That I will never deserve? How can I change a history Of "life is meaningless," and "no, screw you"? How can I change what I see In the world I live in When what I'm looking for is invisible? Help me be a part of You.
