Ashes

Ashes

A Poem by Connor Burns
"

"Again pretty dark with a light feel to it."

"
Ashes
Turned to ash my world lies still,
Everything around me decimated to gray.

I tried looking away but couldn't turn around,
The smallest of lights shined in the dark.

Once turned to ash it could not be fixed,
I left destruction in my wake.

Conjuring tears of acid, creating souls so black,
My mistakes are made but not once forgiven.

So in these ashes i bow my head,
Waiting for the day my world will regrow.

Pick me up and blow off the ash,
Burn my fears and kill my regret.

May this wretched depression leave me,
My demons sent back to hell.

Piece my world back together,
and turn by black heart to red.

My dark but meaningful love for you cannot die,
As i hold you in my arms this fateful night.

But though you know you try to forget,
I'm slowly dying inside.

So please mend my heart back into my soul,
For you ripped it out as you left.

Thus giving me this curse,
As everything i touch, turns to ashes.
