Poem 12: Innocence

Poem 12: Innocence

A Poem by Spirit Of Poetry

Innocence

Going to the shop, choosing your favourite sweets,

Walking inside your grandmother's house,

Going to the living room first, choosing the reclining seats,

Resting in bed, resting those feet,

Telling your mother your brother had hit you,

The mother would slap him, that is what she would do,

Drawing a picture of your family nearby the house,

Wishing that for your birthday

Father would buy you your hoped-for pet mouse,

Opening your presents on your birthday,

Seeing what they've bought,

You accidently came down too early,

They were making presents in the morning,

They were caught.

Being a kid, holding the hands of your parents,

You were protected from idiots, perverts and strangers,

Many large, common dangers.
