Poem 19: Meeting The Animals

Poem 19: Meeting The Animals

Meeting The Animals

As I entered the zoo,

My daughter wanted the loo,

Isn't it awkward when you have to wait?

Nah, not many people that wait, hate,

I'm just an impatient adult,

After being a miserable git for many years,

That is the result,

So my daughter had finished and we had walked,

Walked through the gates,

We walked and we talked, like we were mates,

Except better. I knew this was going to be a fun time,

I loved my daughter and I loved the zoo,

Like a sparkly dime,

First, we saw the giraffes,

We gave them some food and had many laughs,

We even took some wonderful photographs,

Then we had moved on to the Chimpanzees,

They were really popular, fancy.

Waved to them, walked away,

My daughter was hungry, so I said:

"We'll get some food later, okay?"

We were having a nice day,

Everyone would know,

Then unfortunately,

Words came from my daughter,

 which didn't wasn't pleasing,

"I'm tired, can we go home, I feel ill, I keep sneezing.

All of a sudden, it's freezing, daddy."

So she had a paddy but eventually, I had enough

And had decided to go home,

For her screaming would be so loud,

I'd need more than an earmuff,

I had been silent in the car,

As my daughter wasn't a star,

I wanted to see the animals,

So now that I couldn't,

I was so pissed off.
