A Southern Summer Night In Kibler Valley

A Southern Summer Night In Kibler Valley

A Poem by Delilah Dunn

Utopia is
a tent
with a view
of the creek-
rushing
past emerald trees,
and rustic cabins.
Its scent
permeates,
smells like home.
We dance
around the campfire,
down a slippery bank,
to dip our feet lovingly
into the cool water.
We are drunkenly
falling
in love.
You smile,
and I begin to sing
Curtis Lowe
to anyone
or thing
that will listen.
My cheeks hurt
from smiling back;
You kiss me,
and the stars explode.
