Spit and fire

temper and steel....

Tall was not how people described her

it was how she lived her life

Fierce was her heart

and how she loved her family

Strangers never came into her life

everyone she met became someone she knew

sounds like an exciting person to know ... an extrovert for sure eh!? a fine tribute to your sister, Stephany ..i can feel her power from just a few lines .. i take it your sister has passed on :( but your poem rather celebrates her more than morns ... such a great attitude says i! peace and comfort to you and your family!

Wow, this is an outstanding tribute. I love that line about "tall was the way she lived her life" but I really loved how you wrapped it up. Definitely the best thing I've read all day by a large margin.

This is a moving poem. Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of the death of my brother, so I have siblings on my mind. He lived his life tall as well and in the fast line. It sounds to me that although your sister died too soon, she lived her life well. There is much to be said for that. A touching tribute. Thank you for sharing Stephany.

Thank you Chris. I read this at her celebration of life and everyone pretty much agreed it described her.

and in past tense, this is written...a tribute to a sibling gone...i feel this...
but differently....i mourn for a sister...but one who seems gone before she is gone...and almost everyone who knows her remains at a distance, a stranger.

i am sorry for your loss....at this point, doubtful with mine...but your poem better described one of my best friends during the 70's and early 80's who was much like your sister in how you describe her...Paula was only 27 and died in a fire in Texas...
that was 1984...and i still feel her beside me often...and i still write about her often...she was a treasure of a person.
so, as sad as it is to think of loved ones lost...we also are happy we got to know them...so thank you for your poem.
