Engage the Promise

Engage the Promise

A Poem by Stephany

If you listened, quietly and with intent

you would hear
the affirmation of things that held grandeur
greater than you
would ever be

You would hear the the songs of the birds
the flutter of wings
the hum
of creatures wanting
to belong

If you heard these delicate sounds
then you would also hear
the sounds of exclusion
for these sounds are not meant to be
heard by you

Instead, you would hear the sound of
silence
In response to you, in absence of you
in everything
that you hold dear

Don't look to another
seek instead, the beauty
of the sun peeking through
the pink rays of
the sun

Find the peace
in observing only what
you can see, hear and touch
forgo the wants of maybes
and what ifs

Hold tight to the promise
granted by each sunrise
to the peace of a strong crisp wind
that chills the body and warms the spirit
that lets you feel alive

for there is no greater joy

Such wise words, to be the moment rather than be in it and accept that what wil be will be, as it does have a canny knack of turning out that way without worrying about it's outcome.
To breathe, without being questioned why, finding the moments of pleasure amongst the chaos of life, and most of all be you.
Beautiful words.

i have a friend who visited .. i lived in the forests of the Ozark Mountains .. my friend is a very LOUD person and talks non-stop ... i just smile ... we use to ride motorcycles together and he's ok ... after a few days into his visit he asked me where all the birds are .. he hadn't seen nor heard any since he had been here and was quite surprised .... i said "Bob (lets call him Bob) you have to listen if you want to hear them" :))))))))))))))))))) but beyond your poem .. it brings me to also acknowledge the One ... Creator behind all of what we see and hear in the physical world ... how marvelous ... that which knit such majesty and beauty and wonderment .. and holds it all together while the creation moves and morphs continually ... blows me away! thanks for sharing your poem ... tho it is a sharp commentary on human insensitivity to being "still" as well as a tribute to Mother Nature ..it inspired me to thankfulness and adoration of our Creator as well ;)
