REDEMPTION

REDEMPTION

A Poem by SteveB

REDEMPTION

I am every hurt I every caused.

Every tear ever shed in my name,

every dream I ever dashed

every hope I ever crushed

every pain I ever caused.

I am every love I ever withheld.

And thus I seek redemption

for every sin committed.

Each act an atonement,

each statement a satisfaction

each thought an oblation.

Each step an act of penance,

as I trudge the dusty path

on the long solitary path

to Golgotha.

And then the resurection.

Wow. This is powerful, Steve. At first read, I am tempted to say that this is packed with Catholic guilt - but this is so much more, a personal reflection, an acknowledgment of humanity and the need to keep moving toward a spiritual Nirvana. Excellent - I will be reading this again and again.

yes, the catholic guilt and redemption thing is evident...but more than that.

he plays every girl for a fool and then becomes one in the end.

here is a more hopeful look at someone finally realizing what he has too often done to other people, and now he is going to do everything in his power to redeem himself...

so powerful are these words.
