Dawnbreak Blues

Dawnbreak Blues

A Poem by Jethro del Cielo

It's getting near that time
just before the light dims the dark
Right before the sky turns grey
Right before the dawn
Someone's playing the blues outside
and that's is to me
completely alright

You see this is the very moment
this is the time
When a dawnbreak blues can be played
and no one minds that it's around
It's not so much of it's sadness
nor because of loneliness
but just a mellow story of love lost
and memories now long-since gone

Passing through the early morning
it is a ghost and a herald
Hear ye, hear me,
hear us all perhaps
Who knows, who cares
it's alright
just like that

So these words are for that music
outside my window
in November
Two thousand
and fourteen

Time flies, does it not
but so does a mind
attuned so softly
to the dawnbreak blues
here outside
