A Day With No Fear

A Day With No Fear

A Poem by The Fretless Horseman
"

I've written some depressing things, I suppose, but, for the moment, I'm actually feeling much better. :)

"
The slightly uncomfortable heat on my skin
Hanging in the air, humidity
Urging me to get out and do something

But what to do? It hasn't yet come to me.

Uncertainty and ambiguity
Both can become catalysts
It's simply a matter of how they are converted
And the matter in which they are asserted

Spontaneity is inviting
I do believe it leads to better ideas
Rather than read angst-ridden writing,
I'll explore a day with no fear

"Why should I be afraid?" I ask myself.

"Don't you remember all the rejection?" The fearful side of me inquires.
"Just like it was yesterday, all this pain can come back to stay.
Boy, you've been bullied, undermined, and isolated.
It makes me wonder why God put you on the earth He created."

"Why should I let the past haunt me?
Why can't I bury it with all my hatchets?"

"Are you crazy? You know that you don't forget misery.
In the world of the living, you're nothing but a casket."

I bow my head and nearly surrender.

Then I look to the sky and remember
The words of a wise man, a broken man,
Though he was also joyous.

The number of his passage is twenty-three,
the fourth verse, as it were,
And in it I find strength to rise above fear.
