I Don't Miss You

I Don't Miss You

A Poem by The Fretless Horseman

I don't miss you
Is it wrong to be free of those feelings?
I forgive you
You blamed me for everything
I don't care tonight
I must arise early tomorrow
The sun won't wait
Neither will I
It brings new light
to age-old skies
I don't miss us
We weren't a fling, technically speaking
I won't lose sleep
Over the messages you sent me
V for Vengeance
M for Misinterpretation
K for the kiss that won't arrive at the station
C for the cowardice I express
H for the healing that comes out of this mess
These letters mean nothing
They are but abbreviated memories
Like salty tears, the depths of depressing seas
Letters, words,
Trite expressions
What remains?
Not an ounce of pressure
I don't miss you
I gave up on us when he came along
I was right there
Maybe I was trying to tell you I was wrong
You made your choice
Don't blame me
I'm not your man
And why not?
That's a mystery....
