Cookie Cutter...

Cookie Cutter...

A Poem by J.Cordova

empty bottles on a table
bellies full of warmth
salsa and chips
mouths interchange bullshit,
stories and opinions
heads in cadence
to the beat of the music
blasting
ever changing
from taste to taste
blue smoke inhaled, exhaled
new bottles crack open
couples off to the side
a clique in a corner
laughing and speaking
loudly over the tunes
smiles abound
memories recalled
embraces traded
with experiences

is this what we have been
trained for?
our molded expectations
prematurely shaped
rinsed off and used again
similar, a few differences
yet the same thing
same thing
everywhere
