Ecrevisse

Ecrevisse

A Poem by Subterannean

A crayfish drifts inconclusively

on the head of the sea,

empyrean in its slumber

wealthy are its dreams

Its shell a warm sangria

the sea takes its toast,

to translucent exoskeletons

and the waves trotting afloat

The suspended eye blinks

gingerly towards cyclic waves

carousing to the finite shore,

an ovation for the pelicans cerulean rave

bronzed fishermen corroborate

the low tides theory

their gilded torsos

reveal an orange gaze soon weary

In due ubiquity the crayfish is served

lavishly on a porcelain plate

Its head sucked off and tail

twisted by the appetite of fate.
