Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by Amanda
"

Sometime you just have cut free the weight of your past, so it won't drag you down in the future.

"
The rain pours down around me as I slowly walk,
Through memories of childhood days.
I have been here before, my mind whispers,
It is too different, my heart pounds.
I pull my hood down slowly,
Ready to face the crumbling walls of what used to be.

My steps are heavy, deliberate,
Every sound is another blow, another hit.
I wonder whatever could have happened,
To make this place so dark, so abandoned.
What misfortunes was this place handed?

The walkways are broken and jagged,
 Ghosts of laughter and beauty.
Everything seems fragile, ready to break.
A part of my past, the part with the fake,
Is still standing, scars i will never be able to shed.

I am about to let the last of my hope run free,
About to give up to the darkness inside my head.
These memories have broken me once again,
Though I swore I'd could face this old age,
Desperation is evident on this page.

I fall to my knees, rain holding me close,
The thunder rolls and tells me to see the last part,
The edge of my sanity waits before me, I know.
I look up to see friends, beckoning for me to keep on,
A smile rises, my eyes flash and with few more steps,
I let everything go.
