Too MuchA Story by AmandaWhen it's all just too much
She sighed, plopping down onto the piano bench. She was so tired. Tired of everything; drama, fights, being left behind, all of it. Relaxing her hands over their start position, middle C, she closed her eyes. And she began to play. And while she played, she sang.
“You can try your hardest, You can do your best, But whatever you want, There’ll always be a test But what should you care, You could go anywhere, Do anything you could bear, As long as you dare It will always hurt, You can always break, But when you’re in the dirt, You realize the stakes. Look at you now, I forgot exactly how, But you no longer bow, You hit life with a big ole’ pow! It will always hurt, You can always break, But when you’re in the dirt, You realize the stakes." And during this playing and the singing, she dreams of a better world. One where her friends are there, her family isn’t broken and distant, and she isn’t shattered. This world begins to burn with a harsh reality and her eyes snap open. The singing stops and the playing halts. The peace is broken. Just like everything else. © 2012 AmandaAuthor's Note
