For Their Jewelry Got Taints

For Their Jewelry Got Taints

A Poem by Sujash I. Purna
"

It's sheer mockery against some High-nosed Snobbish people

"

I predicted a gloom in our sky

Where it never rains but it pours!

Every life claustrophobic, and every sigh

Shuddered my skin, as I carried out these chores

Even old machines feared for sheer ennui.

I wondered how belittled they looked

With their trivial jewelry. The hoi polloi.

They climbed, they fell, yet they got above

They lied, they pretended when they made love.

All for them but none for they ever were;

These garish ladies with their brooding little genteel men

And their high-class status but their smiles were rare.

With dainty sips and whispers disdain

Keeping the uncouth inverted snobbish at bay.

These delicate people never touched a little grime

For their jewelry got taints!

For their jewelry got taints!

They loved their lovers a little less than their jewelry.

Outside their doors they believed ignorance was bliss.

I remember a young lady from some Nottinghamshire

She thought it’s time’s waste to talk to a silly poet!

She thought it was best to think of her lover,

The man of her dreams who’d fortune in his pocket.

Worried by her snobbish chaps on how she looked like,

She dressed in latest fashions and befriended minds alike.

Mediocrity was her real fear, she stifled anger with simpers.

John Lennon wouldn’t have got shot she thought

As snobbish as she was if he were.

But I had a little more ink left in my pen.

It’d be I thought for some poorer men,

Who loved poetry, who loved rain,

Who gave a damn to what the high-noses thought of them.

A touch of nice and a touch of mean. Nicely said about the differences. Love these parts:
"They climbed, they fell, yet they got above
They lied, they pretended when they made love."
"They loved their lovers a little less than their jewelry."
"But I had a little more ink left in my pen."

Many kind of people in this world. I was lucky. My father taught me to respect all people. Best to rate a person after you know them a while. I like this poem. I have met many who look down at me. I didn't care. The ending of this poem was outstanding. Allow the people who think they deserve more to learn one day. We take nothing with us when we died. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Fantastic portrayal of snobbishness. It led me to the days of graduation where we had" Rape Of the Lock" a satirical poem on the same thought.

Sweet innocent and barbaric all at the same time. Flowed perfectly for the reader, well done.

"Who loved poetry, who loved rain,
Who gave a damn to what the high-noses thought of them."

Anyone who loves poetry and rain is never poor. Very nice poem.
