Bottles Call

Bottles Call

A Poem by Sumo
"

Struggling with an alcoholic spouse

"
Again I attempt to put into words the pain I feel inside
Sad the devil in a bottle called you and you replied

The blank look on your face, the same as what's forming in my heart
You knew you'd get drunk from the start

Without a care you foolishly spill lies from your mouth
It won't happen you tell your daughter and your spouse

The devils grip holds you tight, squeezing out responsibility
Taking away from our happiness and tranquility

Slowly pushing me away as he brings in your daughter
Removing her from where God has brought her

Change must come for the sake of our family
I desire for us to stay strong but can we

Afraid of the inevitable I do my best to hold on
Sober you know better but one taste and you can't help but do wrong

Know ill do my best to stay by your side
I agreed for life to keep you as my bride

Through thick and thin I'll always be under your employ
The decisions you make will determine our joy

I can only end with a prayer that God will prevail
And end this addiction from which you ail

I ask daily for assistance in helping the woman I love
All I've received is a test of what I'm made of

All according to his time, I can only be steadfast
And hope one day the next shot will be your last
