Darkness

There must be those grey moments in life
Those heartbreaking moments of strife

For us to appreciate the rays of light
That shine through when things go right

Cold, life altering events that almost erase all hope
At our lowest, we stumble, fall and grope

Searching for the one reason to fight our way back
Realizing we weren't there for the things we lack

A purpose for all we endure, testing our resolve
Our world seemingly at a halt, yet it does still revolve

How can we appreciate the clean without the dirty
Every one us has a purpose, for we are all worthy

Brush the dirt off, rid yourself of the old ways
Set pride aside and accept the praise

None of us can do it all alone
We're human, we'll fail, we're prone
