Wiser Choices

Wiser Choices

A Poem by Sumo

In limbo, my own selfishness and inner turmoil stains my thoughts
My happiness and perseverance to overcome, spoils and rots

My old rosy outlook, withering and dying
Yet stubbornly I keep on trying

Unrelenting assaults bombard our union
Our strained hearts begging for a reunion

Tainted perceptions of joy taught to us by sinners
Allowing the weak to believe, they are the winners

Repeated actions have repeated results
Misery, anger and self inflicted insults

Mountains of stress bear down with tremendous weight
Rail cars overflowing with our sinful freight

Desperate to derail and scatter them about
To, ridding our lives from our blessed drought

Exhausted by decades of ignorant bliss
It's time to find what we longingly miss

Replace what's proven to dole out pain
What's left, besides something to gain

Assert what's also proven to provide inner peace
Let go and let God, just release

Even the blind can see, both ways are true
So why do we remain the same and continue

Discover strength and fight for the joy you desire
Fall to your knees, set aside the devils empire

Turn towards proven happiness and love
By giving your all to him instead, high above

As with each path, promises said are kept
Make those tears shed, be not wasted that Jesus wept
