Autumn Years / Winter's FearsA Poem by Jimmy DeadmanI love that half of the year.
Emotions are useless
Stuck inside your head Like spoon-feeding corpses While you're starving to death But the way that you see me Is like a face in the night The sun burning brightly Is the moon's only light I climbed to the treetops Dove into the sea Sunk straight to the bottom Where the sun couldn't reach Lay down and drown with me Wish the days were all nights I'll pretend that I love you While the sun's still in sight Cold's the only feeling I feel Cold's the only feeling that's real But cold's not a feeling at all Cold's just a reason or season to fall Cold is falling Winter's here The gray above us Feels so near Minds are loaded Mouths are clear So, I say "Where'll I be" "This time next year" Watching ghosts Headed down the road Mouths are moving They're talking real slow Time has forgot 'em The clocks are all wrong Whispers of sorrow The sounds if a song I don't know nothing of what I'm doing here today But I know what I've done to take away the pain People lying in the gutter, all their dreams cast aside With each word I utter, "I'll bet they all were lies" Please kill me fast "You're already dead" Good feelings won't last "It's all in your head" Flora quits growing "The sun is too bright" When fauna's in bed "Awake half the night" Seeds don't stop sewing "The rain'll just drown them" They move faster instead "They're already dead" © 2014 Jimmy DeadmanAuthor's Note
