Surrick Winter-Bone

The history of the beginning of the Winter-Bone bloodline.

    Surricks eldest grand-father, Engrimmor Winter-Bone, fought among Ysgramors army known as the "Five Hundred Companions" in their battle to drive the Snow Elves from Skyrim. Engrimmor was knighted after the Snow Elves had been driven out but he had won honor for himself and sought to raise a family.
   
At the ripe age of 37 Engrimmor settled high in the mountains of Skyrim and wed Uriel Wind-Sire. He had two sons by Uriel.The eldest of these children was called Surrick and the youngest was called Unegrad. Surrick was a bold and foolhardy child who excelled in all things related to warfare. Unegrad was the opposite of his brother.He dabbled in magic and studied fiercely to sharpen his mind. Once in his late teens he had become an accomplished Mage and scholar.
   
Engrimmor, being a warrior himself , was exceedingly proud of Surricks prowess as a warrior but cared little for Unegrads accomplishments. This,of course, caused strife between the brothers and their father. Strife that would eventually lead to sorrowful events. Events that the Winter-Bone family does not speak of even to this day.




Years passed and Engrimmor passed away leaving Uriel to raise her two sons. Surrick and Unegrad had each become strong young men. Surrick roamed the mountains of Skyrim hunting and honing his skills with sword and bow. Unegrad left home shortly after his father passed away on his 17th year. He sent no word to either his mother or brother for 10 years. On what would have been his 27th year a letter addressed to Surrick arrived by courier. This letter simply said "High Rock, Noon". This was a message only Surrick would understand. High Rock was a short ride on horseback from their childhood home. They played there as young children and now Unegrad called him there again. Surrick doubted his brother intended to play this time.

Surrick stood atop High Rock looking down the deep slope of the mountain he and his brother had called home for so many years. Not many details are know of the events that transpired on High Rock but the shame is well remembered. Unegrad challenged his brother in combat and was slain by him.

These events are the earliest recorded of the Winter-Bone bloodline.All that is know of the centuries after these event are the lineage of the bloodline but I will not go into that just yet......
