The Silence Fell

The Silence Fell

A Poem by Suzanne Deakins
"

How much we dont say, how much we long to say how much we want to hear

"

The silence fell

and you could hear the mountain speak

a thousand years of silence

passed into the snow

The mountain answered us

you stood with your eyes closed

your heart open

The silence fell

and the clouds sang

a hundred years of tears

floated into the ocean

tears floating

from closed eyes

love flowing

from open hearts

The silence fell

and your cry

of love was heard

sound witnessing love

Tear this silence from my lips

let my life be spoken

leave not the quiet

to speak of my being

The silence fell

and the lute could play

as the strings of my heart

were strummed by love

the song we are playing

is pure and full

the stars will dance

and the moon will sing

The silence fell

we could hear

as we closed our eyes

and opened our hearts.

Write our love in this song

Gently playing upon our hearts

Let the sound be

Close our eyes so we may feel.

suzanne, this poem was so beautiful, i almost finished reading it when i felt
the form completely kill interest, it felt like you took complete sentences
and strewn them into stanzas, but with no real design other than to make 4 line stanzas,
when 1 stanza reads like one long sentence making the poem read very choppy
and uninteresting. i never understand how writers think this style works.
i would take the form back to the drawing board and give this poem a meter.
with that being said, i think it could be an ultra beautiful poem.
