HomeA Poem by Melanie GenevieveThis was inspired by Sarah Kay's poem "The Type" and my boyfriend
I live by the ocean
Every time I go to the water my mind wanders to you I always get so cold by the sea so I wrap us up in a blanket But your waves slip right through the sheets They say if you love something let it go So I watch you whisper hello to every continent I watch you hug the people lining your shore I watch you tend to the life inside of you I watch fourth of july fireworks reflect in your eyes I watch the sparks in mine gimmer on your surface When you’re lying still I go and taste your sweet, salty lips I swim your waters, come up dripping wet, refreshed When I am lost you find a way to bring me back to earth when I am crying in your arms you absorb the tears and the heartache As if it never existed When I need a place to stay at the end of the day When my mind needs unwinding When my tired rough edges need sanding down I come to you You are my ocean. You are my home. © 2013 Melanie GenevieveReviews
