What is a pen?

What is a pen?

A Poem by Melanie Genevieve
"

inspired by a conversation with my dad about the scale of the universe

"

The wallpaper that coats

The insides of my head is tearing

like the folds of the sky

that used to be solid

the scale of the universe

presented itself like whiplash

The galaxies on the pinpoint of a needle

have left me in awe of the quarks in deep space

I am but an island on a clover

blowing in the breeze untamed

revolving through space in ignorant bliss

what is a pen in a place like this?

"I am but an island on a clover/ blowing in the breeze untamed"

yes...yes...yes...

"what is a pen in a place like this?"

we are but small voices in such a large universe..and perhaps all that we write, just like us, will blow away and become scattered atoms in the scheme of things.

So many universal questions that go unanswered... what is the meaning of life? Why are we here? and so on... A mind stimulating write.
