0 Grams of love

0 Grams of love

A Poem by Melanie Genevieve
"

I don't really know where this came from

"
Emotion pouring from measuring cups
We used to calculate our feelings in grams
So much heavier when our bellies were satisfied
muscles swollen, bodies energized
The addiction of the activity left us high on life
Somewhere along the line you refused to keep up
you fell behind on the track
into the dust and I kept on running
I left you
alone
If absence was a personal trainer it would kill me
The lack of rest is leaving me drained
if words had calories I'd probably starve
The lack of nutrition isn't healthy
I lost my health when I lost
you

what a masterfully crafted piece, Jacob nailed it the metaphors are perfect.

i love this piece..."if absence was a personal trainer it would kill me"

i was married to one...and she kept running...her whole life has been that...running away from herself and others...so i relate on that level..

but wow, the metaphors that carry this poem to its conclusion...the poem is swollen and very healthy with them.
