When (Childhood)

When (Childhood)

A Poem by Emily Irene.
"

A little poem I wrote about childhood/adolenscence, and with a particular best friend in mind.

"

When the kids we hung out with turned cruel;
when the 7-11 we went to closed down;
when you graduated top of the class,
and went on to a gifted high school;
when I went back to my bed for four years;
when you got engaged to the guy of your dreams;
I never thought these things would bother me,
but the sunshine youth you gave to me
is filtering out of me quickly.
I get older every minute,
every second,
every millisecond.
But I swear to you,

I'll always have my Peter Pan heart.

Author's Note

Emily Irene.
I wrote this while severely drunk/high/nostalgic, so forgive me.
