Let There Be Peace On Earth

By T. Pina

Father God, let there be peace on your earth,
Please let it begin in my heart.
Let this world peace be everlasting,
A peace that would never part.
Your earth is totally exhausted from millenniums
of senseless wars, devastation and disharmony.
Lord, please let there be peace on this earth,

For all of mankind to see!

God, let there be peace on thy earth,
May it all begin, right now.
Guide every step I take,
As a peace maker and writer,

This quest, I now do vow.
My soul is weary of the plaques

Mankind has brought

Upon this magnificent earth,

With their destructive conflicts,

Greed and horrid deviancy.
Please allow me to live to see this dream
come true,

But father, just one more thing I ask,

Please let this world peace be eternally.

GREAT JOB! kind of similar to your poem that one first place in my contest "just because" mainly because of the same idea. There is evil on this planet, we can see it everday in ads, tv, society, neighborhoods, all around us. And Christmas is celebrating Christ, and I think many forget that when they get caught up so much in Santa and gifts etc. you help remind us...LET'S BRING PEACE ON THIS EARTH THIS CHRISTMAS!!! NICE JOB TJ.

I like the downright honesty of your poem-prayer. I like the second line very much as it just seems true, if there is no peace within us then how can we promote peace in those around us? 'Guide every step I take' is another strong line as it is so positive and it may be just one wrong step that finally undoes us in some way. I also think you put your finger on why there is so much misery with the line 'Greed and horrid deviancy'.

And I also agree with the thrust in the note, that we can make a difference. Well done for making your stand.

Wonderful wishes. We are living in such insanity in this world that we need all the prays of peace and good will. I hope for the same.

Tim, this is a beautiful and hopeful prayer. Not only is there power in prayer, but I believe as writers we certainly do have the ability to change lives dramatically. Look at the Bible for instance, though it was led by and is the word of God, it was written through and by man. Words are powerful, for they are often followed by action.

This is beautiful, just like your heart. And I pray this with you my friend.

Peace and love, D
