Something More

Something More

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

I want more.

The acme of my existence

Will not be

The plateau of an orgasm.

I want more.

The measure of my worth

Will not be

Some figure on a bank statement.

I want more.

I want more than your punch-clock promise,

I want more than your lacklustre treasures

More than your silver screen illusions;

Your glittering Hollywood hologram heaven

Holds no allure for me.

I want more.

There must be something more!
