The Tyranny Of Numb3rs

The Tyranny Of Numb3rs

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

We reject the mathematics of fanatics
We reject the lessons of these creatures
Who masquerade as teachers
But really number among the tyrants -

They want to keep on adding to
Their sycophantic retinue.
These 'leaders' never really mind us
They make up their own problems
And no matter how you work it out
It's always plus them, and minus us.

These tricksters device a racket
To put us all in brackets
Of division so they can multiply their wealth;
Their addition is our subtraction so
They keep a bored mass uneducated
So we look to their antics for entertainment
We really need to stop and ask ourselves;
"Just who wrote this curriculum?"

It's a sign of troubled times
When we go off on a tangent
Of co-signing and endorsing all types of lies.
We need to stop and look at things
From the right angle
We'll figure out, unilaterally
That all sides, equilaterally,
Are really the same -
We'll shake off this python that's got us
And realize that a square will always be square
As long as it continues to see squares everywhere.
How about you look around
And appreciate all the different shapes?

Shake off the fake arithmetic;
Sheikhs' lies and pastors' rhetoric.
Politician's lies and tribal vibes
Seeking to bisect out national line -
Don't let them drag you under
You are a prime number;
No-one can divide you but yourself!!

Let's be adders, not subtractors
Not snakes, never detractors
Our generation is a diverse nation,
A sum of differences.
Tell the xenophobic that their time is up
That their season's over, finally.
The tyrannic 'Numbers' sequel
Is; 'We are equal.'

We are one.
