My Love

My Love

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe

My love is like drunk driving

Where all corners

Lead to the coroner’s.

My love is like Philosophy

Where all the answers are right "

And wrong at the same time.

My love is a tragi-comedy

I’m so miserable

It’s funny.

No, my love is a grandmother;

I’ll complain and claim I’m unhappy

When really, I’m not…

There is a simple truth to this piece. Love can be as tragic as it is beautiful. As fantastic as it is awful. I enjoyed the structure and the simplicity of this write. I think we can all relate to it, and that is the sign of a good poem.
