There's An Angry Mob Here To See You, Your Majesty.

There's An Angry Mob Here To See You, Your Majesty.

A Poem by Alvin L. Kathembe
"

Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan...

"

We are drenched in blood and fear;

What are your water-cannons?

We’ve been beat down all these years

What are your truncheons?

We have shed torrents of tears;

So should we fear your tear-gas?

Peaceful Demonstration?

We’re going to show you

A piece of our mind

No knives, no guns;

But they say words are weapons

Using that hypothesis, against all odds

We’ll march up with more arms

Than a thousand Hindu gods

And we shall not fear "

No, we shall never Shiva shiver

In the streets flying banners

And a thousand voices chant

But we’re not counting on no Magic

To bring the change we want

All the streets are crawling

With protesters and rioters

And even if they deal us killing blows

Still they shall never quietus

’Cause we have had enough

We’ve eaten all your lies

And won’t stand another helping.

From your window, Majesty

You see the dancing lights

The thousand tongues of flame

That light up the star-less night

From your bedroom, Majesty

Your royal ear perceives

A distant, ceaseless buzzing

Like a thousand angry bees

They mourn for their Country

They cry for their rights

But most of all, your Highness,

They call for your resignation

Or your head on a silver platter

You’ve killed their brothers

Raped their sisters

Strangled their dreams

And sold them into slavery…

Yet you lie,

Sheets shining with stolen shillings

After countless conspiracies with callous confederates

Listening listlessly to the livid legion,

Heart pumping, brow sweating, mind whirling

They call for you to vacate your palace in peace

Before they burn it right over your head.

My Favorite line here. Awesome poem, long but good enough to get me to the very end. The Subject is recent and it's applicable to various countries (won't mention them unazijua). Your gifted Alvin, this poem shows that. So Keep writing bro. Props on this one

I agree with Michael. That stanza was by far my favorite, and in the future I would advise you to use the standards for that as a guide for everything else. It was powerful and delivered the message in carefully divided portions. Everything flowed well, whereas in other stanzas words were choppy and, while it isn't always necessary to rhyme, the syllables had no sort of rhythm. It fell heavy on my mind in some places, but the stanza that Michael pointed out was beautiful and hopefully you will be able to build on that and grow so that everything you write is as gorgeous.

Good job, and very inspiring. I would write more but it's getting later and I've got a lot of read requests to get done...
