RAIN

RAIN

A Poem by Tom

RAIN

Careening at hyperspeed
For moments immeasurable need
Bouncing off the stone...
Hear it when you're alone

Then you get to thinking
How much should I be drinking
What's passing thru life
Can cut like a knife

Times will be hard
Wish you had a credit card
Rain splashes in the air
But do you even care

Much is beyond comprehension
Try to give it your full attention
In the blink of an eye
More falls from the sky

Can't begin to worry
Hope it's done in a hurry
The games it plays
As it slices and frays

This reminds me of so many walks back to my apartment in Toronto.. after being 'spiritually' filled...

I think the rain in this work is metaphorical. Possibly the mention of drink is the key to the symbolism. The picture I get is of one being overwhelmed by life.
