The Trashcan and the Sharpener

The Trashcan and the Sharpener

A Poem by Tayler Riouff
"

Our first task in my creative writing class was to write something, anything, about an object in the classroom falling in love with another object.

"
Part 1 -
Would that he had arms
To hold her sharp, silver form,
And not her shavings.

Part 2 -
Trashcan falls in love
With the wood she leaves behind
And pencils she kills.

I always love a good poetry prompt. This one is just strange enough to pull me in. I may have to give this one a try. I like what you did with these two objects. I could see her bitterly shaving those pencils down, because that is what she does. Her leavings are what he craves. Nicely done. I hope you got good marks on this assignment! Angi~

I didn't think that unrequited love would be a trait found only in humanity.
