Memories Made, Memories to Make

Memories Made, Memories to Make

A Poem by Chris

Oh, the memories made
And the memories to make
The times to look back on
And the times to look forward to

There have been black days
There have been white days
There will be many days
As time is like a rolling stone
Down the cosmic mountain

Even after we die
There will be memories
Sweet tender reminiscences
Of our fragile interconnected grace
And horrible dark reminders
Of the tattered corruption
That is the human soul

We will be remembered
In the minds of many or few
By someone, at least
Eventually, however
We may very well be forgotten

But the roar of many
Like lions- will shout out our names
And truly we will live on

Today, I look back
On the memories made
And the memories to make
For one day I will not be
And all that is left
Are sweet tender reminiscences
Falling to ground like dying leaves.

I love the theme of this. Inevitability is a great foe, making one feel powerless, and great are those minds that exist outside the time and space, leaving legacies behind.
