Country Girl

Country Girl

A Poem by Tai-San

Country Girl
I’m a country girl,
The city is no place for me.
I like the farm,
Along with the work.
I say things like “Ain’t”
And even ride horses without a problem.

My hair is in pigtails,
My straw hat on my head.
I was born a country girl,
And that’s how I plan to stay.
I want to have the farm back,
And I plan to get it.

I want Jasper to be a country boy,
Only overalls for clothes.
He’ll learn to ride the horses,
And take care of the farm.
We will be country folk,
And that’s my plan.

You can take the girl out of the country,
But you can’t take the country out of the girl.
I was born that way,
And that’s how I plan to die.
